My Journey
Hola, I’m Tyler Morrison, and my journey into Christian music began in one of the most unexpected places—on deployment aboard the USS George H.W. Bush. During that time, I started writing down lyrics I felt God was giving me, without any intention of ever sharing them. After returning home, I attended a songwriting night at Crossroads Church in Norfolk, VA, and to my surprise, the songs resonated with people. From there, they were produced, and I knew this was something bigger than just words on paper—it was a calling.
My journey to faith hasn’t been smooth. I came to Christ in the midst of deep personal pain, dealing with the trauma of losing my brother Wyatt to leukemia and navigating strained family relationships. Life didn’t get easier after finding faith; in fact, it often got harder. I struggled with substance abuse to cope, but I eventually learned that true peace comes from surrendering everything to Jesus. It was only when I gave up control that I began to see His plan unfold in my life.
The music I create is an honest reflection of the Christian walk—the highs, the lows, and everything in between. I want my songs to reach people who might feel disconnected from church or faith, offering them a real look at what following Christ is like. It’s okay to feel lost or overwhelmed sometimes, but God’s love and promises are always there to hold us steady. My hope is that my music speaks to those who are struggling with faith and reminds them who Jesus really is, even in times of suffering.
Everything I sing about comes from lived experience. I want my listeners to know that I’ve walked through the challenges I sing about, and I’m here to relate on a personal level. My wife and close friends keep me grounded, both in my life and in ensuring that my music remains true to God’s Word.
One of the songs closest to my heart is one I wrote for my daughter, Ayvah. It’s a prayer over her life, where I acknowledge that no matter how hard I try, I’ll never be the perfect father—but Jesus is. She belongs to Him, and that truth is what sustains my relationship with her.
I’m not here to write another catchy church anthem; my ministry is about creating music that matters—songs that meet people where they are and offer hope. Ultimately, I want to use my music to make a real difference, supporting people battling depression and anxiety, and helping to spread the gospel to those who feel far from God.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Together, let’s discover the depth of God’s love through music that speaks truth, no matter where you are in life.
